List of Anime Titles Shown at Otakon 2016

Here is our list of anime titles shown at the panels that we did at Otakon 2016. If you have feedback to leave that you would like for us to see, go ahead and leave a comment here. If you have feedback to leave that you would like the Otakon staff to see, please post on the Otakon message boards, as they aren’t checking this page. If you were at the con, please rate our panels using the Guidebook app.

If you don’t know who we are, we’re an audio show which has run for over ten years reviewing anime. You don’t have to listen to every episode, though. Click the Review Index for a list of every title we’ve discussed to date. If you like what you hear or just thought our panels were interesting, consider following us on social media and/or subscribing to the podcast; most do so via iTunes. We also write for Otaku USA Magazine, which also has a magazine you can subscribe to either in print or digitally. In addition to the anime reviews, we occasionally write opinion pieces such as As Geek Culture Assimilates, Otaku Remain Outcast which partially inspired our Anime’s Appearances in Western Media/Non-Anime panel (note: those titles aren’t listed here because that was a panel about NON-anime!). You can also see some of our writings on the Anime News Network, most recently in this feature Ten Old-School Anime Classics You Can Watch Streaming Right Now.

Disclaimer: of COURSE we brought far more titles than we had time to show! Especially Anime’s Craziest Deaths, which had 1 hour of new material until it was realized that the entire panel was 1 hour total. We did what we could to get as much in as possible. Anime 1986 also had to jettison a few titles, but we are confident we can deal with anyone feeling slighted that we “forgot” Del Power X.

Greatest Forgotten Anime Openings — note: “forgotten” means 1. if it was on TV it can’t have aired for 10-15 years 2. if it was ever on VHS/DVD it must be well out of print 3. it cannot be currently streaming on any legal streaming service 4. it cannot be in the fandom zeitgeist (so no Evangelion)

  1. 1986… God, that looks like a great year. I remember reading about “Arion” in Trish Ledoux’s “Animag” way back when; would love to see that someday. Also, is that “Time Stranger” the GoShogun movie, or is this that whole “Time Étranger” thing? [I noted it at the panel, but this is separate from the GoShogun movie, which came out the preceding year and was thus part of last year’s panel. –Daryl]

  2. Hey, if possible, could you make a list of the titles shown in the Anime In Western Media panel as well? Obviously not anime, but I’ve been searching for that horrible fashion show where they try to “look like anime” and have had no luck googling the hell out of it.
