Anime World Order Show # 105 – Trigun Is Older Than Many Current Anime Fans

Due to anime conventions, magazine deadlines, and to a lesser extent DE REEPAZ we missed our chance to release this way back in March when this was initially recorded. But in this episode, after dispensing some advice on running mecha panels at anime conventions Gerald reviews the unjustifiably recent theatrical film, Trigun: Badlands Rumble.

Turns out that OSMCast! still isn’t posted yet, nor has the Anime Fans Give Back marathon been uploaded. But Daryl was on the ANNCast with Tim Eldred to discuss “Top 10 Anime of the 1980s.” Note that Daryl’s list is completely volatile such that the contents and rankings could change from moment to moment, but the ten he picked are all pretty darned good. Why, several of them have been reviewed already on THIS VERY PODCAST. Also, both Daryl and Gerald were guests on the Greatest Movie EVER! podcast to discuss The Perfect Weapon, featuring Jeff Speakman and the Hawaiian Mormon fist. You can get the links to those by clicking on Guest Spots up above.

Anime World Order Show # 102b – Ya Gahtta Have thah Haaht of thah Gunpla

For the final segment of Show 102, Gerald reviews Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G, which for brevity’s sake we’ll just call “Gunpla Builders,” and continues to bombard us with trivia questions. Our guest remains Erin Finnegan, who is very displeased that we did not inform everyone that ERIN EDITED THIS PODCAST. Well, she did! (And then we edited her edit, since we always edit everything in two passes around here anyway.)

The new issue of Otaku USA is out, featuring Daryl’s cover story on Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: The Sacred Star of Milos. And his feature on Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle. And by no means can you skip over his review of Golgo 13 TV: Collection 3! On the website, you can read his supplemental companion piece to that Golgo 13 TV writeup, his review of the mighty OAV, Golgo 13: Queen Bee.

Incidentally, since Daryl never answered his own question regarding favorite anime seen in 2011, while he’ll echo the previous responses of Redline, Tiger and Bunny, and Kaiji Season 2 he also thinks quite highly of Mazinkaiser SKL, Macross Frontier Movie 2: Wings of Goodbye, X-Men, and the latest episodes of Gundam Unicorn that the rest of the Internet hates.

This podcast is not going to appear in iTunes or the Feedburner RSS until around 6:00 PM EST because after all these years we’re still incapable of setting things up so that the RSS feed is automatically generated by the blog. Oh sure, we have the “Podcasting” plugin installed. That’s how you can see the Flash player anyway. But that doesn’t let us include a custom description for the feed item. UNACCEPTABLE. (Actually, we could probably do it with custom fields, but we don’t know how. Or how to import existing manually-generated XML data.)
